This week, I was inspired by blankets of warmth and love…

The Blankets Are Warm

Blankets of snow we watch fall
Covering the earth gently
Making us wish we could crawl beneath
In the crisp winter air
Covering the place in the grass
Itself covered up, and uncovered
While a fire burned nearby
And perhaps prying spying eyes
Another fire in pieces inside
Covering us both where we lay
Once we settle and conform
We feel so together
As together as warmth
Keeping in all the heat
Keeping in all the fire
As we snuggle beneath
Out in the world
We lay together for shows
Questions of lust and fireworks
Falling on us like snow
All our lives are warm blankets
That we sit upon
Or share
Or throw over the both of us
They’re all memories
They all keep us warm and cozy
As we sit in front of the fire
As we stare out into the future
