How long has it been since I posted something musical? Don’t answer that. You can’t answer it. Unless you’re willing to search through hundreds of posts.
So this time, I’m going with obscure but good songs – songs that will make you go “oh yeah! I remember that one!” And these are in no order whatsoever. They are, in fact, in chaos.
Okay, you got it? Yes, I know, Move Mountains is from Liquidizer, not Doubt.
Edward Hotspur

Wow….those were some awesome flashbacks!! I love how music can transport you back in time. Thanks for the trip.
I still miss the 70′s, but you make other decades sound a little less sucky.
I love every decade. I will scrape the annals of yesteryear for songs of yore.
I saw Jane’s Addiction on their Nothing’s Shocking tour. I’ve seen Jane’s more than any other band, and Perry Farrell more than any other artist.
I’m officially jealous. I’ve never seen them play.

I like XYZee, Wise Up, Sucker, Defcon One, and lots more.
Watch out. I latch onto music people and never let go.
Very Metal Noise Pollution.
I’m down with industrial music. I just have to be in the mood for it.
Speaking of Noise Pollution, have you ever listened to The Art of Noise. Yeah.
I’m listening through the whole record again and I still like it.
For my buddy Cody and a handful of others I loved once upon a time.
I used to play this when I was a DJ at a college radio station.
I discovered this song when I was 20 and I rocked it for years while driving around the lakes near campus.
Were you really a Dj at a college radio station? That’s incredible cool.
Yeah, but it wasn’t that cool.
Ha! Funny. Still cool.
“incredibly” I mean.
I have a three year old in my lap so typing is hard. That and I am on the lazy side.
Believe it or not, every single one of those songs has stayed within the parameters of the 80s.
Uncanny, but you’re right.
Speaking of Uranus…
LOL
I freaking loved this song, but my husband is standing behind me making funny of me. I said, “The post is called Musica Obscura.” He said, “In other words, Crap-ol-a.”
Coincidentally, Bloodhound Gang has a song called Mope that uses this song in the opening, and Relax as the verses and chorus music
I’ve listened to this whole album 1000 times.
And I do believe I have stuck to “our” theme.
Okay, now you’ve got me. I’m not that familiar with this.
You might have to be a twelve to fourteen year old girl to really appreciate it.
Great songs!
This song is straight from my heart. I sang it more times than I can count when I was 12.
LOL Wedding Singer made this a hit again.
I could spend a lifetime doing this with you, but I should probably let some of the other party goers have a chance.
If they’re game.
Oh, boo. I only knew the first two. I’m going to listen to the rest of them as I catch up on blogs this evening.
They’re all familiar, but mostly to MTV people, I guess.
We are from that rare generation who knew MTV when it was ground breaking and actually pushed music instead of smothering it.
Actually played music, even.
For starters.
Why not our song?http://youtu.be/mowIPtHA4JI Also attached is an essay I had in the Globe and Mail in September–similar feeling, related to the video. Allan Wilson
