How To Go Slowly Mad

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How does my mind work

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How does my mind work

I’m demented
What a mental display of dementia
A deficiency brought on by
A hide and seek in absentia
A hiccup in the hypocrisy
I accuse you of my epiphany
I invented everything in my history

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How does my mind work

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How does my mind work

An example of a sample
Of the kind of thing
You’d expect from me
Without thinking or blinking
Or believing me
When I make the statement
With a type of freak of nature
You don’t often see
When you look in a book of epiphanies

Hot hot hot
Hot hot hot
How does it work for you
When you’re reading on
And you’re questioning what you believe
And you’re questioning my sanity
And you’re questioning just about everything from me
And you’re tasting and testing the best
You’ve been wasting a trace of humanity
By ignoring a portion of me
Incredibly

This is my mind
What do you think
Appearing in this film

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How can you see anything

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How can you see anything

Read the leaves
Read and leave
Rid yourself of the depth and the breath
And the death of me
Incessant discrepancies
Dressed and ready for the heavenly
With hellish embellishments of stress relief

This is it
You’re in it deep now
Play your part properly

How does my mind work
What does my mind say
How did that get from A to me

How does my mind work
When did my mind leave
I should follow

    • Yes, of course. No ice. Veggie or tomato juice plus vodka plus microwave. When it comes out, whatever. Hot sauce, pepper, spices, garlic, I’ve added all that and more. Plus, more vodka.

  2. Love the poem, but sorry to hear you’re stressed. This usually works to help me chill out:

“If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.” – Dalai Lama

Vodka used to help too, now I just go for rooibos tea and duct tape.

    • Some of the stress was self-inflicted. So I could have done something about it. Please note, I wrote this long before going out to my car and finding it would not start, then after getting a jump, discovering my fuel light was on.

    • Was it a good closing line, or a subtle suggestion for the readers? I don’t know. I just type what my brain tells me to.

      Thank you.
