There’s a great writer of poetry who I recently hyped mightily – the lovely and talented Hastywords. Recently, we got it into our heads to have a go at a poetry duet, with good results. I won’t tell you who wrote what, at first, though she might. We are each posting this at the same time on our blogs, in delightful synchronicity.
Physical Rhymes
Never stop wanting me
Or haunting me
Or I’ll fade away
Never stop thinking of
Making love
In shades of gray
Never stop dancing
Romancing the floor
Upon which I walk
But honey we’ve got to talk
My heart keeps stopping
Skipping rhythmic beats
Please keep my name
Written when we meet
Softly on your lips
Whispering in my ears
Swaying with my hips
Motions only I can hear
All other sounds melt
Evaporating with air
Angels sigh
Fireflies light our only way
Hard to believe
I must leave with the light of day
You keep pulling me back
With your promises
And you make me lose track
Of my senses
You’re so forceful with everything
You want to feel about us
But honey we’ve got things to discuss
When you try to leave
I feel frozen in time
Anguish stealing my smile
Completely wrapped up
In physical rhymes
Please just stay awhile
Let the world rotate alone
As we lay in the sunrise
Melting into the sand
I hold your hand
And with your eyes you make me stay
But the burning moment we just had
Left with the light of day
Still, with everything I’ve known
You caused the spark in me
Took all the dark in me
And this heart in me beats faster with you
Than with anyone I’ve found
So honey, I’m sticking around

You are in a different time zone lol!
Ha ha! Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
Delightful Time-zone-adjusted synchronicity
I’m not sure who wrote what! Gah!
My guess is that paragraph #1 is yours. Or not. I dunno!
You’re close. Or not.
Nope. Still no idea who wrote what.
It’s seamless, like the iPhone 5.
Never stop thinking of
Making love
In shades of gray
- Favorite lines!
We both thank you collectively!
Yea…he doesn’t know but those lines made me swoon!
Does that mean I was right about the first paragraph??
Edward wrote paragraphs #1,3,5.
Yes….
Yup. I knew I was right.
And? Nice stuff y’all wrote up there! The whole thing is swoony!
Thanks for being swooned. I have been in swoon mode lately, I guess. I had today off, and the kids were at school, and I just was … my wife was here…
…and you did some more laundry!! Or had breakfast in bed, and lunch in bed and, ….nevermind.
You had a good day, didn’t you?
It started with me replacing the valve washer in my hot water shower faucet.
I hope that was a result of a happy accident…
It was the result of [part] grinding against the washer over time. Unrelated to any laundry, fires, backyards or that sort of thing.
I like how you clarified [part].
I don’t know what it’s called.
LOL really?
I liked all of it. What rhymes with physical???
Vesicle?
Testicle?
Testicle???? lol
Was that on the tip of your tongue? lol
How about popsicle?
or a frozen testicle?
ewww gross sorry
Whoa.
Hey…don’t act all shocked after that blog post you made!!!!
That was about laundry. It would take a pretty dirty mind to make that into something it’s not.
Dang….I thought it was about doing the dishes naked.
That was a different post. The one in my comment to Guapo
Ok well next time can you make cupcakes…it’s more fun than laundry.
It’s all fun. It’s not the room, it’s what you do IN the room.
Ohhh making cupcakes in the garage. I see what you’re saying.
Yeah, it’s not the room, it’s the recipe.
Oh, I just said that before I read yours. Great minds think alike.
And in pairs.
That’s just nuts.
haha
