Since it was a relatively nice and relatively coolerish day out, we took the boys to the zoo. Unfortunately, about 87204572043872034865 other people had the same idea, so it wasn’t as good as it could have been if we had gone on, say, Tuesday. And that zoo was Gougey! Wow. Unreal prices. Some animals are missing because of phone problems – the same ones from the time we went to this arboretum – but I checked my phone and pics constantly for that very reason, and even took out the battery and put it back in at one point to overcome that problem. I’d say I came away with about 93% of the pics I thought I took. So I still got some good pictures. Both the animals there, and the animals we brought! Ha ha! Here are some of them.

Nice way to spend a day.
Looks like your zoo has some nice habitats. Are they very delineated exhibits, or does the whole place feel like wilderness? (Including the snack bar.)
It’s in a near-downtown location, so while standing on some observation platforms you can “observe” tenements, or cars going by. They were delineated by landscape, like land near water, savannah, jungle, etc. It was nice, but spendy and a little disappointing. I think I’d give it a B-.
Like the gator shot and the ones with the vines. The gorilla and that monkey guy in #9 – quite expressive
Zoo trips used to be a lot more fun when they cost less. We found it was cheaper to “join” as a member – “free” trips for a year plus special members only events which were less crowded and the animals were all told to be extra cute and be available for photos. One photographer told us it was worth the money to avoid the crowds.
Everything has gotten so expensive.
I know! You have to either plan to go to the zoo a whole bunch of times each year, or pay a small fortune to go once a year. Same with all the parks. When there’s a huge variety of things to do, you don’t want to just do one all the time. And who knows what they’re doing next summer? Not me.
I love zoos. But I hate seeing animals in cages. Life confuses me.
Somewhere in the Ozarks is a zoo that you drive through. The animals are free, and the humans who love attached limbs and life are “caged” inside their cars.
I went to one of those in Oregon. It was pretty cool.
You could probably go to one in Hollywood too!
I try never to drive near there if I can help it.
Looks nice. We have a zoo in Johannesburg, South-Africa and one in Tswane, both filled with amazing animals. Not sure if u there over the see where familiar with Max the gorilla?
Africa IS a zoo, right? We have a zoo here with local wildlife like foxes and bobcats and stuff, but for “exotic” animals we gotta drive an hour
U got that right my dear Sir, one big f-n zoo….
