Great list. First band that came to mind before seeing the list was Split Enz. It was hard enough to choose without them on there. I look forward to the next and the final results!
Did I not put an “Other” category, where you could write in bands? Though I like Crowded House a little more than Split Enz.
I saw the other but I chose to stick with the choices given. I saw Crowded House in New Mexico years ago. One of the best shows I ever saw. Sad that only about 400 people showed up in a venue ther held 8000. But they didn’t seem to mind. They even hung out after the show and talked with people.
I’m actually surprised that I’ve only seen seven and a half of these bands live.
I went with a write in answer.
I’ve seen B-52s, INXS, Rush, U2 and Yes from that list.
I forget how to look at Other votes.
You have to go to the Polldaddy.com page to see them.
I’ve seen Rush, U2, Howard Jones, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Duran Duran, Billy Idol and Colin Hay from Men at Work. He was solo acoustic. Pretty good show.
Yes… oh I forgot the question. i was in a rush I feel like a foreigner in my own time frame.. what a journey.. wtf am I doing and where is Howard Jones? He isn;t on the list… arguably not a band but neither is .. um..someone or other up there… cmon.. I picked U2.. cause I was rezlly confused.. I was confused then too listened to everything on the list you had… What about Crack the Sky? Gentle Giant? or was that 70′s that I just liked in the 80′s… this is way too narrow.. I mean its quite an undertaking and you can do it anyay you want.. its just … well ..ok what’s next?
You can put whatever you want in ‘other’. I just named some of the most popular bands in the genres. Not many people like Gentle Giant, even in the 70s.
yea I know.. Iwas was just stirring the pot.. or smoking the…no no wasn’t smoking it sorry.. I didn;t see the other and I didn;t mean to be difficult. I am looking for sleep.. it eludes me and I can’t think clearly anymore.. I will stick with U2 they were pretty awesome and I saw them at red rocks..between sophmore and junior year.. camped out for the tickets.. so, more cause its a good memory but thats what music does.. for me anyways…
Yeah, me too
I forgot Huey Lewis and the News
Oh NO!! I have to change my vote! (um no…not really..)
Guapman might want to change his though… Id remind him if I were you… yup I would
Great list, but I always associate Bad Company with the 70s since their first album came out when I was in high school in the mid-70s.
Well yeah, but most of these started in the 70s to be honest.
Ah, in addition to Huey Lewis and the News, I forgot Billy Squier. That album In The Dark was THE album of 1981/2 for me.
Seen Huey. He put out a soul album and performed most of it. Crowd wasn’t happy until the encore when he did the hits.
Billy was my write-in.
That’s where I got the idea. I tried to think of songs and then pick the bands, sort of, but most of these are bands that themselves defined the 80s. Did I put The Police? I think I did.

Even Bad Co. started to suck in the 80s, and I love Bad Co.
